Pine Lane Nursery is a family owned & operated, full-service garden center, plant nursery and tree farm located in the heart of Parker, Colorado. Spanning nearly 10 acres, Pine Lane Nursery is filled with a wide variety of plant materials including fast growing trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses, perennials, annuals, vegetables, herbs and more. The plant nursery is locally famous for growing unique and colorful annual hanging baskets and patio pots every spring. Plants are sourced locally or grown on site whenever possible, and all plant material at the Pine Lane Nursery garden center is selected based on hardiness and proven success in Colorado. In addition to live plants, the plant nursery also offers delivery and planting services throughout Douglas County and the surrounding areas. Pine Lane Nursery also offers a wide variety of outdoor and garden décor including furniture, pottery, and fountains.

We do and you should too! Ladybugs and Praying Mantises are like having a tiny, unpaid pest control team working your garden 24/7. If you’re growing anything—veggies, flowers, or trees, they’re worth getting and protecting!
Why Lady Bugs are great:
• Aphid destroyers: One ladybug can eat 50+ aphids a day. Aphids are one of the biggest problems in Colorado gardens (especially on roses, milkweed, and new tree growth).
• They work in all life stages: The larvae (which look a little like tiny alligators) are even more aggressive than adults.
• They also eat: spider mites, whiteflies, and scale insects—common Front Range pests.
Colorado-specific bonus:
• Our dry climate can stress plants → stressed plants attract aphids → ladybugs help rebalance that fast.
Bottom line: If you see ladybugs or their larvae, don’t touch them. They’re doing serious work.
Why Praying Mantis’ are valuable:
• Eat bigger pests: grasshoppers (huge issue in Colorado some years), beetles, caterpillars, and even wasps.
• Ambush hunters: they sit still and strike fast—no chemicals needed.
• Long season predators: they stick around through much of the growing season.
If you want a healthy, low-maintenance garden:
• Encourage ladybugs heavily (they’re your precision tool)
• Welcome mantises, but don’t rely on them alone
How to Attract & Keep Them
• Plant:
• Yarrow, dill, fennel, alyssum - ladybug magnets
• Tall grasses & shrubs - mantis habitat.
