Betula utilis
Yellow
Unique Features: This variation birch is also known as just the Jacquemontii and is considered the whitest of the white barked birches. This is also one of the more challenging birches to grown in our area since it prefers more acidic soils (<6.0 pH) and cooler summertime temperatures (<75 degrees). As with the other birches these will do best with a northern or eastern exposure, consistent moisture and winter watering. Our environment puts birches under excessive stress and the more stressed the trees are the susceptible they are to the bronze birch borer and pests and diseases.
