Unique Features: Blonde Ambition is a cultivar of the native Blue Grama grass which is a warm season grass found in the shortgrass prairies of the Great Plains. Blonde Ambition originated in New Mexico, was named Plant of the Year for 2022 and is a Plant Select item. The flower stems grow to 2 1/2’ to 3’, extending above and beyond the clump of grass blades. The horizontal chartreuse flowers begin blooming in June and continue blooming through August or longer. If you catch the heads at the right time you can see the tiny flower petals hanging down like a fringe. The flowers mature to a light tan, blonde, color and continue their aerial escapades above the foliage for the rest of the summer and fall. Blonde Ambition is a warm season grass so the proper time to cut it back to 4’’ to 6’’ is early to mid-May. Blonde Ambition is deer resistant.
