Unique Features: The Emerald Spire Crabapple is one of the narrowest crabapples, it grows into a tight columnar shape. The dark green foliage can have a purple cast, and the spring blooms open from fuchsia buds into 1’’ diameter double pink flowers that age to white. It produces 1” dark red crabapples which are edible and only mildly tart. Since the Emerald Spire is so narrow, the fruit drop is only in a small area and easier to clean up. As with many columnar trees, the Emerald Spire is often grown as a low branched tree, meaning that the branches starting close to ground level. If you start with a younger tree then the lower branches can be pruned to create more of a canopy. It has good disease resistance. All Crabapples are approved by the Town of Parker.
