Unique Features: The Prairiefire Crabapple grows moderately into a rounded form. With time, the branches become more horizontal and can develop a slight droop. The foliage emerges maroon, then ages to dark green, and can have outstanding fall color in shades of yellow to orange red. The profuse spring flowers are deep pink-red, about 1 ½” across with a slight fragrance. The purplish-red fruit (also profuse) is ½” in size and persists on the tree into winter. The Prairiefire has excellent disease resistance, including fire blight. It is also listed by several sources as resistant to the Japanese beetle. All Crabapples are approved by the Town of Parker.
