Unique Features: The Red Jewel Crabapple grows moderately into an upright, broad oval form. The foliage is a medium green color and turns yellow in the fall. The spring flowers are profuse, single, white and fragrant. The profuse fruit that follows is bright red, ½” across and extremely persistent, hanging on the tree through winter and into spring. This brings a splash of color and provides food for over wintering and returning spring birds. The Red Jewel Crabapple has fair resistance to Fire Blight but should be watched for signs of infection. All crabapples are on the Town of Parker Preferred Species list.
