Unique Features: The Goldenrain Tree grows at a moderate rate and doesn’t usually reach its full size in our area. It is grown both as a single or multi stemmed tree. The foliage consists of large (up to 18’’ x 18’’) compound leaves that emerge reddish purple, then change to a bright green color and finish with a golden yellow in fall. The tiny yellow flowers each have a dot of red in the throat, and bloom in large open clusters in mid-summer. They then change into 3 sided ‘Lantern’ seed pods, each potentially containing 2 to 3 fertile seeds that could result in baby raintrees. However, these seedlings seldom survive in our area. The pods stay on the tree over the winter, changing color from green to russet, then to tan. This tree is approved by the Town of Parker.
