Unique Features: This is a cultivar of a North American linden. It has a narrower profile when younger, and broadens with time. Lindens are native around the world in temperate climates. They grow at a moderate rate into their differing forms, and are adaptable to our clay soils. In early summer they have very fragrant clusters of tiny pale yellow flowers that dangle from a yellow-green modified leaf bract. The flowers are then followed by tiny nutlets. The bees will have no trouble finding the flowers; Linden flowers are one of their favorites. The Japanese beetle is also particularly fond of lindens, which is a growing problem, however the American Sentry does show some resistance. Visit the CSU Extension website and search Japanese beetle – 5.601 for more information on this pest. Lindens are approved by the Town of Parker.
