Unique Features: The Marmo Maple is a seedless hybrid of the red and silver maple. It grows rapidly (25’ in 10 years) into a broad, upright oval form, developing height before width. The younger bark is a pale silver-grey, and should be winter wrapped until it thickens. Put the wrap on around Thanksgiving and take it off around Easter. Fast growing trees such as the Marmo benefit from regular (3 to 5 years) pruning.  Maples ‘wake up’ as early as February, and will necessitate an increase in winter watering at this time. In our high pH soil most maples can develop chlorosis, or iron deficiency, which can be treated with iron and sulfur soil amendments. Chlorosis causes the leaves to turn a pale yellow-green with darker green veins in summer, and can be a factor in early fall color change.  No serious pest or disease issues.
