Unique Features: The Heritage oak is a natural hybrid of the English and Bur oaks that grows vigorously, faster than both of its parents and most other oaks, into a large broad oval shape. It is also more cold tolerant than the English oak. The large dark green leaves have silvery undersides and are both tatter and mildew resistant. The combination of the two parents yields hard wood, strong branches, and a well rooted thick trunk which allow the tree to withstand wind and snow load. The Heritage oak is also adaptable to alkaline soils, which is a plus in our area. The Heritage will grow into a very large tree which casts a deep shade, so you may need to over seed your bluegrass lawn with a more shade tolerant variety of fescue grass.  Oaks require and reward patience.
