Unique Features: The Kindred spirit is a hybrid of the Columnar English oak and the (American) Swamp White oak. It grows into a tightly columnar form with superior density and strength. The dark green lobed leaves have silvery undersides, from the Swamp side of the cross, but it also has the Swamp side fall color, which is insignificant. This tree can serve as a striking vertical accent or a durable long-term screen if planting multiple. Even without leaves these oaks have dense enough branching to provide screening. Kindred Spirit oaks are usually grown as a low branched form, having branches starting at very near ground level. They have the growth potential to support a higher canopy and when the trees are pruned in this manner they present more of a formal appearance. Oaks require and reward patience.
