Quercus x warei 'Long'
Yellow, Orange
Unique Features: The Regal Prince is a hybrid oak resulting for a cross between the Columnar English oak and the America Swamp White oak. The very narrow Kindred Spirit oak is a more recent cultivar derived from the Regal Prince. The Regal Prince has a moderate growth rate from the English side and durability and adaptability from the American side. It also has the bicolor leaves of the Swamp oak, which are dark green above and fuzzy lighter green underneath. The leaves also have the winter persistence of the English oak, hanging on to the tree into or through the winter. The Regal Prince can serve as a single vertical accent, a street tree, a central yard tree for small yards or, if planting multiple, a large, durable, and low maintenance hedge. When columnar trees such as the Regal Prince are grown with a moderate canopy they have more of a formal appearance.
