Prunus persica ‘Frost’
Pink
Yellow, Orange
Unique Features: The Frost peach tree originated as a chance seedling so its heritage is unknown. It blooms a bit later then than most other Peach trees, which can help it avoid spring frosts. The rosy pink mid-spring flowers are very profuse, covering most of the trees. This can result in very heavy fruit set, which means thinning out some of the tree will be needed; especially for newly planted and younger trees. You want the tree’s energy to go into the roots rather than to fruit. On older trees, thinning yields larger and higher quality fruit. The Frost peach produces medium-large, rounded freestone fruit with a red blush over yellow skin. The mid-season peaches have tasty yellow flesh that is good for fresh eating or cooking. The Frost peach is noted for its resistance the peach leaf curl fungus.
