Prunus persica ‘Hale-Haven’
Pink
Yellow, Red, Orange
Unique Features: This is a Standard or full-sized Peach tree. Pruning will be required for the necessary protections of the fruit, and to maintain the size and shape of the tree to facilitate harvest. In spring it blooms with pink to purple-pink flowers. This is a later blooming variety of peach that originated in Connecticut, it is well suited to the cooler regions of USDA zone 5. In September, it produces medium to large yellow-orange fruit with a red blush. The Hale Haven produces large crops so it is important to thin out the young fruit when it is around 1’’ or less in diameter. This will maximize the size of the remaining fruit and decrease the chances of branch breakage from too much fruit. Both squirrels and birds like peaches, so get a big enough net to extend below the canopy and then gather it around the trunk.
