Prunus persica 'Redhaven'
Pink
Yellow, Red
Unique Features: The Red Haven peach originated in South Haven, Michigan and was introduced in 1940. In spring it blooms with fragrant pink flowers that open from dark pink buds. The foliage has good resistance to leaf spot. The almost fuzzless medium to large fruit is colored dark red over yellow (mostly red with little yellow) and ripens over enough time in August to allow for several harvests. The fruit is freestone with creamy textured, fine grained yellow flesh. The fresh fruit is excellent as a dessert and is also great for baking, canning, and freezing. As with most peaches the Red Haven is self-fertile and can produce fruit with one tree, but you will get more fruit on each tree with multiple. Pruning and fruit thinning are necessary for the long-term health of fruit trees.
