Unique Features: The Princess Kay plum, a variety of Canadian plum, grows moderately-slowly into a small narrow tree form. It has less of a tendency for suckering than the American plum and usually has a fairly straight trunk. Princess Kay blooms early in the spring, before the leaves emerge, with clusters of double white flowers emphasized by the almost black bark of the bare branches. The leaves are a medium green and are rounded and larger than those of most plums. If the flowers avoid spring frosts, small edibles plums, similar to those of an American plum, are produced. The dark barked trunk has prominent horizontal white markings for added winter interest. The Princess Kay plum is a very early, 1998, Plant Select selection.
